El Ministerio de Transportes, Movilidad y Agenda Urbana ha aprobado provisionalmente el proyecto de trazado del acceso a El Musel, desde el enlace de la Peñona por el vial de Jove, en Gijón, que será sometido a información pública próximamente.
Actualmente el acceso por carretera se realiza a través de la N-641, que parte del acceso sur de Gijón y se dirige hacia el Oeste, atravesando la zona urbana residencial de La Calzada.
El nuevo itinerario por Jove discurrirá en su mayor parte fuera de la zona urbana, a diferencia de la N-641, reduciendo notablemente el impacto del tráfico de los camiones que acceden al puerto sobre la zona residencial. El presupuesto de las actuaciones asciende a 163 millones de euros.
El vial proyectado se iniciará en la glorieta de acceso al puerto, dentro de las propias instalaciones, donde comienza una calzada bidireccional, con un carril por sentido de 2,5 kilómetros.
De ellos, aproximadamente dos se desarrollan en túnel artificial, manteniendo la sección de calzada única y con una anchura de 14 metros útiles para la circulación de vehículos y aceras de servicio.
La sección tipo del túnel consta de dos carriles de 3,5 metros, arcenes de 2,5 metros y aceras de 0,75 metros. Además, el túnel cuenta con una galería lateral de evacuación y cumple con todos los requisitos de seguridad necesarios.
El proyecto contempla, además, la reposición del viario interceptado por la traza y la ejecución de cinco estructuras para salvar los ramales del entorno del enlace de la Peñona y las líneas ferroviarias Gijón-Pravia y Gijón-Cudillero.
